Odisha Approves ₹55,783 Crore Projects to Create 14,500 Jobs

Odisha clears 7 major projects worth ₹55,783 crore expected to generate over 14,500 jobs across the state.

Odisha is set to witness a major industrial transformation after the state’s High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) approved seven large-scale projects worth a total of ₹55,783 crore. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized that the approvals are not just about investment but about balanced regional growth, with the projects expected to generate over 14,500 jobs across multiple districts.

Dhenkanal is emerging as a key industrial hub, led by Saffron Resources, a JSW Group company, which will invest ₹35,000 crore in an integrated steel plant. The plant is projected to produce six million tonnes annually and create approximately 8,000 direct jobs. The district will also host a ₹1,300 crore air separation unit by Inox Air Products and a ₹2,136 crore thermal power expansion by GMR Kamalanga Energy, further strengthening its industrial ecosystem.

Ganjam district is also seeing a surge in capital inflows. Jindal Poly Films will set up a ₹12,000 crore Titanium Dioxide Pigment unit and a rare earth processing facility, creating nearly 4,000 jobs. In addition, the district will receive a ₹1,700 crore investment in the auto-component sector for tyre and zinc oxide manufacturing, further diversifying Odisha’s industrial base.

The state’s tech ambitions received a boost in Khordha, where Sancode Semi plans a ₹1,650 crore semiconductor assembly and testing facility. This move positions Odisha as a competitive player in high-tech manufacturing and strengthens India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Chief Minister Majhi highlighted that these approvals are a step toward inclusive growth, ensuring industrial expansion reaches multiple regions of the state rather than concentrating in one area. He added that the projects align with Odisha’s long-term vision of becoming “Samruddha Odisha” by 2036 and contributing to the larger goal of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.

The state government also underscored its focus on sustainable and technology-driven development, combining large-scale industrial investments with employment generation and infrastructure upgrades. Officials expect these projects to not only boost the economy but also enhance Odisha’s strategic position in steel, manufacturing, and high-tech industries on a national scale.
