NTA Implements Extensive Safeguards For NEET-UG Re-Exam; Multi-Agencies Coordinate Security

NTA assures multi-agency security for malpractice-free NEET re-exam on June 21.

With the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has reiterated its commitment to conducting a fair, secure, and malpractice-free examination, assuring students and parents that extensive safeguards have been implemented following the cancellation of the original test due to a multi-state paper leak controversy.

The re-examination is being held after the Centre scrapped the May 3 NEET-UG 2026 examination amid allegations of question paper leaks that affected more than 22 lakh candidates across the country. The incident triggered widespread concern among students, parents, and educational institutions, prompting the government and examination authorities to strengthen security measures for the fresh test.

Speaking ahead of the examination, NTA Director General Abhishek Singh stated that the agency has adopted multiple layers of protection beyond standard procedures to ensure the integrity of the process. He emphasized that the organisation is “100 percent committed” to preventing malpractice and ensuring that every stage of the examination remains secure and transparent.

According to Singh, enhanced safeguards have been introduced throughout the examination chain, including question paper preparation, translation, printing, transportation, storage, and distribution. He said strict protocols have been put in place to ensure that individuals involved in any stage of the process are not compromised, reducing the possibility of leaks or unauthorised access to examination materials.

The NTA has also enlisted support from several central and state agencies to strengthen security arrangements. These include the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of External Affairs, Department of Posts, paramilitary forces, state governments, police departments, district administrations, and chief secretaries. The coordinated effort is aimed at ensuring smooth and secure conduct of one of India’s largest entrance examinations.

With only a few days remaining before the re-exam, authorities hope the reinforced measures will restore public confidence in the testing process. The June 21 examination is expected to be closely monitored nationwide as lakhs of medical aspirants prepare for a second attempt, following one of the most significant examination controversies in recent years.
