Noida Experiences Waterlogging; Yellow Alert Issued for Delhi and Gurgaon

Heavy rain floods Noida; yellow alert in Delhi, Gurgaon.

Heavy rainfall lashed Noida on Monday, leading to widespread waterlogging in several low-lying areas and disrupting traffic movement. Residents reported vehicles getting stranded on submerged roads, and local authorities rushed to clear drains and ensure commuter safety.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi and Gurgaon, warning of continued heavy rain and thunderstorms in the National Capital Region (NCR) over the next 24 hours. The alert urges citizens to exercise caution and avoid non-essential travel during peak rainfall periods.

Noida traffic police said several main roads, including sectors near the expressway and commercial hubs, experienced water accumulation, causing slow-moving traffic and minor disruptions to public transport. Authorities deployed pumps to drain water from critical junctions and advised motorists to follow alternate routes.

Residents shared images and videos on social media showing streets turning into temporary water bodies, with some reports of minor flooding in residential areas. Local municipal bodies confirmed that teams were monitoring drainage systems and responding to complaints of waterlogging to minimize inconvenience.

The IMD forecast predicts intermittent heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds, which could continue into Tuesday. Meteorologists also advised people to secure outdoor items, avoid standing water, and stay updated with local weather advisories.

Officials in Delhi and Gurgaon have urged schools, offices, and construction sites to remain vigilant, particularly in areas prone to water accumulation. They also emphasized the need for citizens to avoid waterlogged streets and exercise caution while commuting, as the monsoon-like conditions persist in the region.
