Noida Call Centre Busted For Running Fake SpiceJet Job Scam

Noida Police bust fake SpiceJet job racket, arrest four accused.

The Noida Police have busted an alleged fake recruitment racket operating from a call centre in Sector 2 that reportedly duped job seekers by offering fraudulent airline jobs and collecting recruitment fees. Four accused — Sudesh Singh (36), Brijesh Bhadhoriya (38), Arjun (23) and Sandeep Kumar (32) — were arrested during the operation on Sunday. According to police, the accused targeted unemployed individuals by promising jobs with SpiceJet and issuing forged appointment letters in exchange for registration, training and processing fees.

One of the victims, a 40-year-old resident of Kanpur, reportedly arrived at his city's domestic airport believing he was joining as ground staff after receiving what appeared to be a genuine job offer. Police said the man had been unemployed for several years and had been actively searching for work through an online employment portal. He was contacted by a caller claiming to represent a recruitment agency hiring on behalf of SpiceJet and was offered a position at his nearest airport.

Trusting the offer, the victim allegedly paid ₹1,150 as a registration fee and another ₹5,480 towards training. Later, he was asked to pay an additional ₹6,000 for a uniform. Deciding to report for duty first and arrange the uniform payment later, he reached the airport only to be stopped by security personnel, who informed him that no such appointment existed. By the time he attempted to contact the recruiter, the phone number had already been switched off and the SIM card was allegedly discarded.

According to investigators, the accused obtained the personal details of job seekers from online employment portals before contacting them with fake recruitment offers. Once a victim accepted the offer, forged appointment letters were allegedly prepared in the candidate's name, and applicants were instructed to transfer registration or processing fees into mule bank accounts controlled by the fraudsters. Police believe several people may have been targeted using this method.

Investigators said the accused had previously worked at a call centre before establishing their own operation in Noida after their former workplace shut down. Police also alleged that one of the arrested individuals had earlier worked for the airline and used that experience to help create convincing fake appointment letters, making the fraudulent offers appear authentic to unsuspecting applicants.

Police said the Kanpur resident initially chose not to file a complaint after realising he had been cheated but later approached authorities on Sunday, leading to further investigation. The case has once again highlighted the growing threat of fake recruitment scams targeting unemployed job seekers. Police have advised candidates to verify employment offers directly with companies, avoid paying recruitment fees into personal accounts and report suspicious job offers to law enforcement authorities immediately.
