NIA Cracks Down on BKI Network! Raids Underway at 15 Punjab Locations
NIA Raids 15 Punjab Locations in Crackdown on BKI Terror Network
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches across 15 locations in Punjab on Friday, targeting the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror group linked to a December 2024 grenade attack on Ghanie Ke Bangar police station in Gurdaspur.
The raids, spanning Gurdaspur, Batala, Amritsar, and Kapurthala districts, yielded incriminating materials, including mobile phones, digital devices, and documents, the NIA said in a press release.
The investigation focuses on a network led by US-based BKI operative Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, a key aide of Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh, alias Rinda.

Happy, arrested by the FBI on April 17, 2025, for orchestrating 16 terror attacks, including 14 grenade strikes in Punjab and Haryana, allegedly directed the Gurdaspur attack with associate Shamsher Singh Shera, alias Honey, and overseas handlers.
The NIA revealed that BKI operatives, acting on Happy’s instructions, recruit and train India-based associates, supplying funds, weapons, and explosives via Pakistan-based networks to destabilize internal security.
Registered under the Ministry of Home Affairs’ directive, the case uncovers a transnational conspiracy. The NIA’s probe, which previously chargesheeted Happy and Rinda for a 2024 Chandigarh grenade attack, shows BKI’s use of dark web communication and Pakistan-made HG-84 grenades.
With five arrests and 12 accused, including Rinda and Lakhbir Singh Landa, the NIA aims to dismantle BKI’s network, analyzing seized materials to identify further suspects. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav called Happy’s arrest a “major milestone” in curbing ISI-backed terror.
