New Bihar Cabinet Sets Ambitious Target of 10 Million Jobs, Launches AI Mission to Transform State

The newly formed Bihar Cabinet held its inaugural meeting on Tuesday under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, during which it unveiled ambitious plans to create 10 million jobs for the state’s youth within the next five years. The decisive meeting focused on large-scale employment generation and industrial development as pillars of Bihar’s future economic growth.
Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit highlighted key initiatives discussed, including setting up a defence corridor, a semiconductor manufacturing park, global capacity centres, a mega tech city, and a fitness city. These projects aim to establish Bihar as the technological hub of Eastern India and transform the state into a global back-end workplace by nurturing the start-up ecosystem to empower young entrepreneurs.
In a strong push towards modernization, the cabinet approved an Artificial Intelligence Mission aimed at positioning Bihar as a leader in AI development. Complementing the vision are initiatives to revive nine closed sugar mills and establish 25 new ones, alongside greenfield township projects spanning eleven cities including nine divisional towns, Sonepur, and Sitamarhi.

To ensure progress, dedicated committees have been formed to oversee employment-oriented initiatives and start-up growth, signaling the government’s commitment to combining traditional industry rejuvenation with new-age technology opportunities. The government’s integrated approach reveals a blueprint for inclusive and sustainable economic transformation aligned with national and global technological trends.
As Bihar charts a path towards industrialization and technological innovation, the cabinet’s early decisions reflect an ambition to harness the state’s demographic potential and scale economic opportunities for its vast youth population, promising dynamic growth over the coming half-decade.
