Nepali Citizens in West Asia Update Online Registration Amid Rising Tensions
Nearly 55,000 Nepalis in West Asia register online for safety amid US-Iran conflict.
Nearly 55,000 Nepali citizens residing in West Asia have registered their details in an online rescue tracking system launched by the Nepali government amid escalating tensions in the region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday.
According to the ministry, a total of 54,786 Nepalis had updated their information in the system by Sunday night. The initiative, led by the Department of Consular Services, aims to help the government collect up-to-date data on citizens in West Asia and assess their assistance needs amid the ongoing US–Iran conflict.
The ministry confirmed that the submitted information is being reviewed on a priority basis, with necessary procedures initiated depending on the situation and requirements of the registered individuals. While air travel in many parts of West Asia has not fully resumed, limited flights continue to operate from some locations.

Nepali citizens in the region have been urged to stay informed about daily security updates, precautionary measures, and notices issued by local authorities and Nepali missions. The ministry also advised nationals to remain calm, vigilant, and cautious, and to avoid recording or sharing photos, videos, or audio that could violate local laws.
The West Asia region hosts over 1.7 million Nepalis across 12 countries, and their safety remains a concern as retaliatory strikes by Iran in response to joint US–Israel operations have targeted several civilian installations in Gulf nations. The Nepali government confirmed that one citizen, Diwas Shrestha, from Gorkha district, was killed during a drone interception operation at Zayed International Airport in the United Arab Emirates.
Officials emphasized that the registration system will continue to monitor citizens’ safety and facilitate timely assistance, underlining the government’s commitment to protecting Nepalis amid ongoing regional tensions.
