NEET-UG Retest Toppers Report Improved Scores and Higher Ranks

NEET-UG retest toppers report improved scores and higher AIR ranks.

Several students who appeared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) re-examination on June 21 have reported significant improvements in both their scores and All India Ranks (AIR), saying the second examination provided a better opportunity to demonstrate their preparation. The re-examination was conducted following the cancellation of the earlier NEET-UG test amid allegations of a paper leak. Many successful candidates attributed their improved performance to focused revision and disciplined study routines during the additional preparation period.

Among the top performers, Ayush Balotia secured AIR 4 after increasing his score from 695 in the cancelled examination to 710 in the re-test. Speaking about his preparation, Ayush said he followed a consistent daily routine, attending coaching classes from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by dinner and two to two-and-a-half hours of self-study before going to bed. He said maintaining the same schedule every day helped him remain focused throughout his preparation.

Kartik Chaudhary, who achieved AIR 16, also credited the re-examination for improving his performance. He increased his score from 700 in the earlier examination to 705 in the re-test. According to Kartik, although the original paper appeared slightly easier, the revised examination better reflected the knowledge he had gained over two years of preparation. He followed a late-night study schedule, studying from around 9:30 or 10 p.m. until 4:30 or 5 a.m., before resting and attending coaching classes in Kota during the afternoon.

Kritika Jain, who secured AIR 18, said she initially expected her rank to decline because many candidates had performed well in the original examination. However, after the re-examination was announced, she believed she had another opportunity to improve her overall standing. Although her score decreased slightly from 705 in the cancelled test to 701 in the re-examination, her All India Rank improved, demonstrating how changes in overall candidate performance influenced the final rankings.

Another successful candidate, Gunjan, secured AIR 52 after improving her score from 690 in the earlier examination to 695 in the re-test. She said the additional preparation time allowed her to focus particularly on Inorganic Chemistry, a subject she found difficult to retain. According to her, repeated revision helped strengthen her understanding and contributed to the improvement in her final score.

The experiences shared by these candidates highlight how the re-examination provided many students with an opportunity to refine their preparation strategies and improve their performance. Conducted after the cancellation of the original NEET-UG examination due to an alleged paper leak, the re-test enabled several aspirants to achieve better marks and higher national rankings through disciplined study schedules, targeted revision and consistent practice.
