NEET Re-Exam 2026 Puts Aspirants Under Mental Stress Ahead Of June 21
NEET re-exam uncertainty triggers anxiety, sleeplessness and mental strain among aspirants ahead of June 21 test.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) 2026 re-exam process has left several medical aspirants across India dealing with heightened stress, disrupted routines and growing uncertainty, following the cancellation of the original examination and the announcement of a rescheduled test date.
The NEET-UG 2026 examination was reportedly cancelled on May 12, triggering confusion and concern among candidates. The National Testing Agency (NTA) later announced that the exam would be conducted again on June 21, 2026, resetting the preparation cycle for lakhs of aspirants across the country and abroad.
According to a report by the Press Trust of India (PTI), many students preparing for the re-exam have said the situation has led to increased anxiety, difficulty in concentrating, and a loss of confidence in their preparation as they attempt to restart studies under uncertainty.

Speaking to PTI, candidate Ridhima Bansal, who had also appeared for her Class 12 board examinations this year, said the cancellation left her emotionally exhausted and struggling to return to her academic routine. She said she initially felt confident after completing the exam, expecting a good score, but the sudden cancellation disrupted her plans and motivation.
Bansal further described how the ongoing uncertainty has affected her physical and mental well-being, including severe disruption in sleep patterns. She noted that she has returned to late-night study routines, with reduced sleep and difficulty maintaining normal daily habits, adding that her appetite and overall mental health have also been affected.
She also expressed concerns about the fairness of the examination process, saying the controversy surrounding the cancellation has weakened her trust in the system. The re-exam is scheduled to be held on June 21 from 2 pm to 5:15 pm across 551 cities in India and 14 international locations, as candidates prepare once again for one of the country’s most competitive medical entrance examinations.
