Namma Metro Yellow Line Upgrade: Eighth Trainset Cuts Peak Frequency to 9 Minutes

Bangalore Metro commuters on the Yellow Line can now enjoy improved train frequency following the deployment of an eighth trainset on the Bommasandra–RV Road corridor by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). The addition of the new trainset is expected to significantly enhance the commuting experience on one of the city’s busiest metro stretches.

With the eighth trainset in service, peak-hour frequency on the Yellow Line will improve from 10 minutes to 9 minutes, reducing waiting times for daily commuters. The upgrade is particularly beneficial during non-peak hours, when train intervals will decrease from 18 minutes to 14 minutes, providing faster travel options for off-peak riders.

The BMRCL had earlier delayed deploying the eighth trainset due to final safety checks and operational readiness procedures. Once cleared, the new train was seamlessly integrated into the existing schedule to optimise frequency and reduce congestion on the Bommasandra–RV Road corridor.

Commuters can expect smoother and more efficient rides, with less crowding during peak times and shorter wait times overall. BMRCL officials highlighted that the introduction of the new trainset is part of ongoing efforts to improve service reliability and prepare for anticipated passenger growth on the Yellow Line.

The Yellow Line, connecting Bommasandra in the south-east to RV Road in the north-west, serves as a crucial link for daily office-goers, students, and other commuters. With the improved frequency, BMRCL aims to enhance passenger convenience and encourage greater use of public transport, reducing road congestion in Bangalore.
