Naidu’s Ramadan Vow: Empower Poor Muslims, Safeguard Wakf Lands

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu struck a chord of unity and commitment at a state-hosted Iftar party in Vijayawada on March 27, calling Ramadan a time of “discipline, charity, and reflection.”

Joining Muslims in prayer, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader reaffirmed his government’s dedication to uplifting impoverished Muslim families and protecting Wakf Board properties, underscoring a legacy of support for the community.

Naidu highlighted past achievements, noting, “We established Urdu universities in Hyderabad and Kurnool, and a Haj House in Kadapa. Between 2014 and 2019, we aided 32,722 minority brides with Rs 163 crore under the ‘Dulhan’ scheme.”

He credited TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao for fostering this bond—establishing a minorities finance corporation, declaring Urdu the second official language, and building infrastructure like the Haj House while shielding Wakf assets.

Leading the NDA coalition, Naidu outlined fresh initiatives: raising Imams’ honoraria to Rs 10,000 and Mouzans’ to Rs 5,000, alongside a Rs 5,434 crore allocation for Muslim minorities in the 2025-26 Budget—a Rs 1,300 crore jump from last year. “TDP has always stood by Muslims,” he said, emphasizing financial empowerment and property protection as cornerstones of his vision.

The Iftar event, blending tradition with policy, showcased Naidu’s bid to strengthen ties with Andhra’s Muslim populace amid a festive Ramadan spirit.
