Naidu Unveils Green Initiatives, Hospital for Kakinada

Andhra CM pushes wealth-from-waste, Polavaram completion

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, addressing a public meeting in Kakinada district as part of the Swarnandhra–Swachandhra initiative, announced transformative plans to turn household waste into wealth, establish a 100-bed hospital, and build a 15 MW waste-to-energy plant in Peddapuram. Speaking on Saturday, August 23, Naidu emphasized sustainable development, promising to monetize waste through home composting, banning single-use plastics, and recycling e-waste with door-to-door collection vehicles.

The Rs 330-crore waste-to-energy plant, set to be completed in 18 months, will process refuse from Kakinada’s municipalities to generate electricity. Naidu also allocated Rs 75 crore for drinking water facilities in Peddapuram and Samarlakota and pledged drone-based mosquito eradication to combat diseases like dengue. “Health is paramount, and we’ll do everything for the poor,” he said, underscoring the TDP-led NDA government’s focus on welfare and wealth creation.

Naidu touted the success of TDP’s Super Six poll promises, including free bus travel for one crore women under the Stree Shakti scheme, Rs 15,000 annually for schoolchildren, and Rs 20,000 for farmers. “Critics called these unrealistic, but Super Six is a super hit,” he declared. He also promised to implement central tax reforms to ease burdens on the poor, boosting their purchasing power.

Taking aim at YSRCP leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu dismissed claims of Amaravati flooding as “false publicity,” asserting, “YSRCP drowned, not Amaravati.” He reaffirmed commitments to complete the Polavaram Project by 2027 and develop Amaravati into a world-class city. Naidu also announced the Swachandhra Awards, to be presented on October 2 across 16 categories, including clean municipalities and green ambassadors, to promote cleanliness.

Looking to 2047, Naidu envisioned Andhra Pradesh as India’s top state, driven by initiatives like the waste-to-energy plant and sustainable urban planning. Social media posts lauded the Swarnandhra–Swachandhra rally, with locals praising Naidu’s vision for a “Golden Andhra Pradesh.”
