Mumbai Weather Today: IMD Predicts Intermittent Showers Across City Throughout Friday

Mumbai and its neighbouring areas are likely to experience intermittent rainfall throughout Friday, June 26, as monsoon conditions continue to remain active across Maharashtra. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), widespread showers are expected in several parts of the state, with the financial capital forecast to remain mostly cloudy through the day. Weather conditions are expected to remain favourable for light to moderate rainfall, while occasional spells of heavier showers cannot be ruled out. Residents have been advised to plan their travel accordingly as wet weather is likely to persist into the evening and night.

According to the latest forecast, Mumbai is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to settle near 28 degrees Celsius. Weather forecasts indicate a 57 per cent chance of precipitation during the day, with the likelihood increasing slightly to around 59 per cent by night. Cloud cover is expected to dominate the skyline, and rain is likely to occur in spells rather than as continuous downpours throughout the day. Although no major weather warning has been issued specifically for Mumbai, the ongoing monsoon pattern is expected to keep conditions cool and humid across the city.

The latest forecast comes just days after Mumbai experienced one of its heaviest spells of monsoon rainfall this season. On Wednesday, intense showers lashed the city, causing widespread disruption to road and suburban rail services during the morning rush hour. Waterlogging was reported in several low-lying areas, leading to traffic congestion and leaving commuters stranded. Emergency agencies and civic authorities remained on alert as heavy rainfall affected normal life across multiple parts of the metropolis. The downpour highlighted the challenges that accompany the monsoon season in one of India's busiest urban centres.

Rainfall data released after Wednesday's showers showed that several localities recorded exceptionally high precipitation within a 24-hour period ending at 8 am. Malvani, in Mumbai's western suburbs, received around 340 mm of rainfall, making it one of the wettest locations in the city. Parel, located in central Mumbai, recorded approximately 334 mm during the same period. Such intense rainfall overwhelmed drainage systems in some areas and resulted in temporary flooding, disrupting transport services and affecting daily activities. Civic authorities continued efforts to clear waterlogged stretches and monitor vulnerable locations as the monsoon remains active.

The IMD has indicated that widespread rainfall is likely to continue across Maharashtra over the coming days under the influence of the southwest monsoon. Residents are advised to remain updated with official weather bulletins, particularly those planning to travel or commute during peak rainfall periods. Motorists should exercise caution on waterlogged roads, while commuters using public transport are encouraged to check service updates before setting out. With the monsoon expected to remain active, Mumbai is likely to witness more spells of rain in the days ahead, making preparedness and adherence to weather advisories essential for minimising disruptions.
