Mumbai Mega Block On Sunday To Affect Western And Central Railway Harbour Line Services
Mumbai locals to face major disruptions due to Sunday mega block on Western and Central lines.
Commuters in Mumbai are set to face major disruptions on Sunday as both Western Railway and Central Railway have announced extensive mega blocks for maintenance work across key suburban corridors. The scheduled maintenance will impact large sections of the city’s lifeline local train network, leading to widespread cancellations and service alterations during the day.
On the Western Railway network, a Jumbo Block has been planned on the Harbour Line between Bandra and Goregaon from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During this period, all CSMT–Bandra–CSMT services, along with CSMT/Panvel–Goregaon–CSMT/Panvel Harbour Line trains operated by Central Railway, will remain suspended. Several slow services between Churchgate and Goregaon will also be cancelled, affecting daily commuters across the western suburbs.
Central Railway will also carry out multiple maintenance blocks, starting with an early morning disruption on the Main Line between Byculla and Vidyavihar on both Up and Down fast lines. This block, linked to ongoing infrastructure work including the Sion Road Over Bridge project, will run from 12:45 a.m. to 3:45 a.m. Additionally, CSMT–Kurla suburban services will not be available between 12:10 a.m. and 4:10 a.m., further affecting overnight travel.

During the daytime, Central Railway will impose another major Harbour Line block between CSMT, Chunabhatti and Bandra. The Down direction block will operate from 11:40 a.m. to 4:40 p.m., while the Up direction block will run from 11:10 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. These restrictions are expected to severely limit train movement across key routes connecting South Mumbai with the suburbs.
As a result of these blocks, trains connecting CSMT with Vashi, Belapur, Panvel, Bandra and Goregaon will remain suspended for a large part of the afternoon. However, to reduce inconvenience, Central Railway will operate special trains between Panvel and Kurla at 20-minute intervals during the affected period. Passengers will also be allowed to use Main Line and Western Railway routes between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. as an alternative arrangement.
Railway authorities have clarified that no daytime block will be imposed on the Main Line between CSMT and Kalyan on Sunday. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, check cancellation lists at station offices, and expect delays due to the maintenance work aimed at improving long-term rail infrastructure and safety.
