Mumbai Man Kills Wife After Argument By Pushing Her in Front of Local Train
Mumbai man allegedly kills wife by pushing her in front of local train after fight.
A 42-year-old electrician, Rajukumar Gupta, has been arrested for allegedly pushing his wife, Pushpa Gupta (36), to her death in front of a running local train at Mulund railway station following a heated marital dispute.
The incident occurred on March 14, 2026, around 10:45 AM on platform 1 at Mulund station on Mumbai's Central Railway line. CCTV footage captured Gupta approaching Pushpa and shoving her directly into the path of a Thane-bound local train, causing her to strike the train's buffer and suffer fatal injuries. Passengers alerted the station master, and railway staff rushed her to a nearby government hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Hours before the tragedy, Pushpa had approached the Kurla Government Railway Police (GRP) with a complaint amid ongoing quarrels with her husband. Her brother, Kamlesh Kumar Gupta (30), a soldier from Uttar Pradesh, had arrived to take her and their 15-year-old son back to their native village. However, Kamlesh and the nephew were locked inside Gupta's house after forgetting documents, leaving Pushpa alone at the station when her husband arrived enraged.

Gupta fled the scene with their younger son (13), traveling to Surat, Gujarat, where the Railway Police Special Task Force (STF) apprehended him within hours. An FIR for murder under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections has been registered at Kurla GRP, with the investigation ongoing to probe prior domestic issues and potential divorce motives.
The couple, originally from UP, resided in Mumbai where Gupta worked as an electrician; frequent fights had escalated recently. Pushpa's brother highlighted her vulnerability, noting neighbors eventually freed him to learn of the horror. This shocking act has renewed calls for better protection at crowded stations and support for domestic violence victims.
Police recovered key evidence from CCTV and are counseling the traumatized children, one of whom witnessed the push. The case underscores rising concerns over intimate partner violence in urban India, with GRP emphasizing swift action in transit-related crimes.
