MP launches ‘School Chalen Hum’ to boost government school enrollment.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Wednesday launched the four-day ‘School Chalen Hum’ campaign from Government Model Higher Secondary School in Bhopal, aiming to boost school enrollment and ensure quality education across the state. The campaign, running from April 1 to April 4, seeks to motivate children in all 55 districts and over 50,000 villages to step into classrooms, leaving no child behind.
Aligned with the state-level Pravesh Utsav (admission festival), the initiative focuses on distributing over 5.6 crore textbooks, foundational literacy workbooks, and bridge courses. CM Yadav said the campaign reinforces the government’s commitment, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, to build an educated and empowered future generation.
Addressing students, parents, and teachers, the Chief Minister highlighted transformative changes in Madhya Pradesh’s education landscape. He praised initiatives such as free textbooks, bicycles, financial aid for uniforms, and other welfare schemes, noting that public trust in government schools is increasing. “We are living in a time of transformation,” he said, pointing to the zero dropout rate at the primary level and a 19.6 per cent overall increase in enrollment, with government schools recording a 32.4 per cent growth.

A major focus was on the Sandipani Vidyalayas (formerly CM Rise Schools) and PM-SHRI Schools, upgraded with sports grounds, libraries, and modern facilities. These institutions have seen students migrating back from private schools, reflecting growing confidence in government education. Under the National Education Policy 2020, 49 new Hindi textbooks and 69 local-language texts have been distributed, while 5.5 million uniforms and bicycles are easing access for students, particularly in tribal areas.
CM Yadav also highlighted support for marginalized communities, with 1,913 hostels for Scheduled Caste students and over 20 lakh students studying under the Scheduled Castes Welfare Department. Approximately 1,94,000 meritorious students have received laptops in the last two years, and Rs 250 crore has been allocated for rewarding school toppers with scooters. The government has issued appointment orders for around 76,325 teachers to ensure quality learning.
Setting an ambitious enrollment target of 1.45 crore students for the current session, the Chief Minister urged teachers, parents, and communities to guide every child. Sharing inspiring anecdotes, he encouraged students to embrace education fully, saying, “Every child deserves to attend school, become educated, and soar on the wings of their dreams — whether to become an IAS, IPS officer, teacher, leader, or successful farmer.”
