MP Cabinet Sanctions Rs 390 Crore for Tiger Reserve Buffer Zones and Tribal Development
Madhya Pradesh approves Rs 390 crore for tiger reserve buffer zones and other development initiatives.
Madhya Pradesh’s Council of Ministers has approved a series of significant measures aimed at wildlife conservation, irrigation development, tribal welfare, and employment for backward classes, signaling a multi-sectoral approach to sustainable growth.
To reduce human-wildlife conflict, the cabinet sanctioned Rs 390 crore for developing buffer zones across the state’s nine tiger reserves over the next five years (2026-27 to 2030-31). The plan includes chain-link fencing, water source and pasture development, fire safety, animal health services, and skill programs for local communities, ensuring better coexistence between tigers and nearby residents.
In Pachmarhi, the cabinet revised the area under the Special Area Development Authority (SADA) from 395.931 hectares to 395.939 hectares, officially designating it as revenue land. The adjustment is expected to boost urban development, promote tourism, and resolve long-standing restrictions in the hill station while keeping sanctuary boundaries intact.

The council also cleared Rs 17,864.26 crore for ongoing schemes under Tribal Affairs, Food and Civil Supplies, and Revenue departments from 2026-27 to 2030-31. For backward-class youth, the government approved the revised Overseas Employment Scheme 2025 with a budget of Rs 45 crore over three years, planning to send 600 youth abroad annually for skill development and global employment exposure. These combined initiatives reflect MP’s focus on balanced development across wildlife protection, tribal welfare, agriculture, and employment.
