Mother-Daughter Duo Steal Jewellery Through Landlord’s Ventilator

Delhi Police arrest mother-daughter duo for stealing landlord’s jewellery through a ventilator in a bold Bindapur heist.

In a startling case of theft, Delhi Police arrested a 42-year-old woman, Pinki, and her 22-year-old daughter, Poonam, for stealing jewellery from their landlord’s residence in southwest Delhi’s Bindapur area on August 12, 2025. The duo allegedly accessed the landlord’s home through a ventilator, executing a cunning burglary. Authorities recovered 5.23 grams of melted gold and 589.15 grams of melted silver from a jeweller who purchased the stolen items, highlighting the audacity of the crime.

The investigation began after the landlord, Ishika, filed an online complaint on August 1, reporting the theft. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Bindapur police station. Initial scrutiny of CCTV footage revealed no signs of forced entry or suspicious activity, leaving investigators puzzled. The focus then shifted to the tenants, Pinki and Poonam, who lived in the same house. Under sustained questioning, the duo confessed to entering through the ventilator and stealing the jewellery.

The stolen ornaments, sold to a local jeweller and later recovered in melted form, underscored the calculated nature of the crime. This incident has raised concerns about tenant-related security risks in residential areas, prompting calls for increased vigilance.
