Monsoon Session: Air India Crash Revelation Stuns Rajya Sabha
Aviation Minister urges respect for probe into deadly June crash.
Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu addressed the Rajya Sabha, urging calm and respect for the ongoing investigation into the tragic Air India plane crash on June 12, which claimed 274 lives. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which took off from Ahmedabad airport, failed to gain altitude and crashed into a hostel building less than two kilometers away after losing thrust during the critical take-off phase.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) released a preliminary report highlighting a critical detail: both fuel control switches of the aircraft moved from ‘RUN’ to ‘CUTOFF’ within a second of each other during take-off, potentially contributing to the disaster. Naidu emphasized the need to avoid speculation, stating, “We must respect the probe process to uncover the truth behind this tragedy.”
As the Monsoon Session continues, the minister’s call for patience underscores the gravity of the investigation, with the nation awaiting answers about the catastrophic failure that led to one of India’s deadliest aviation incidents.
