Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan! 10 Crore Saplings To Be Planted in 2025

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced an ambitious plan to plant 10 crore saplings across the state in 2025 under the ‘Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan’ initiative.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced an ambitious plan to plant 10 crore saplings across the state in 2025 under the ‘Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan’ initiative. Speaking at a state-level event marking the International Day of Forests on Friday at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur, Sharma tied the effort to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, aiming for a cumulative total of 50 crore saplings over five years.

“In 2024-25, we planted 7 crore saplings. This year, aligned with the 2025-26 budget, we’ll plant 10 crore more,” Sharma said, urging citizens to pledge for a greener Rajasthan for future generations. He emphasized the state’s cultural reverence for nature, noting, “Trees, mountains, and rivers are worshipped here—environmental conservation is our legacy.” The initiative builds on last year’s ‘Mukhyamantri Vriksharopan Maha Abhiyan,’ which saw widespread participation.

Forest Minister Sanjay Sharma praised Modi’s vision for turning tree planting into a mass movement, highlighting Rajasthan’s innovative sapling survival monitoring system and the registration of Forest Protection Committees. The CM outlined additional measures, including the Rajasthan Circular Economy Incentive Scheme 2025 for waste management and resource efficiency, and a pioneering agroforestry policy. Other plans include ‘One District, One Species’ to conserve native flora, ‘Mother Forests’ in every district, and a Gharial Rearing Centre in Sawai Madhopur.

Sharma also lauded conservation efforts for the Great Indian Bustard, backed by a new national action plan. With 2,000 ‘Van Mitras’ appointed to nurture saplings, the state aims to ensure growth, not just planting. This aggressive green drive positions Rajasthan as a leader in combating climate change through afforestation.
