Minor Son of Arrested Coaching Founder to Testify Against Father in NEET Paper Leak Case

CBI plans to use the coaching founder's minor son as a witness in the NEET leak.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is reportedly planning to make the minor son of a coaching institute founder arrested in the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case a key witness in the ongoing investigation. According to sources cited in the probe, the student—who appeared for the NEET-UG examination held on May 3—allegedly admitted during questioning that his father had procured leaked Physics, Chemistry, and Biology question papers nearly 10 days before the examination. The development marks a significant turn in the expanding multi-state investigation into the alleged leak of one of India’s largest medical entrance examinations.

Investigators are also reportedly considering making a pediatrician based in Latur, Maharashtra, a witness in the case. The doctor is alleged to have purchased the leaked question paper for his son. According to sources familiar with the investigation, the CBI believes testimonies from individuals directly linked to the alleged procurement and distribution network may help establish how the leaked papers were circulated before the examination. The agency has intensified its probe amid growing concerns over organized cheating syndicates operating across multiple states.

The investigation has uncovered allegations involving the leaking of different subject papers by separate individuals. According to the CBI probe, accused persons allegedly handled separate sections of the exam, including physics, chemistry, botany, and zoology. Officials are also examining the role of WhatsApp groups and digital communication channels that were allegedly used to circulate so-called “guess papers” and leaked questions before the examination. The case has triggered nationwide outrage because NEET-UG is the gateway examination for admission into medical colleges across India and is taken by millions of students annually.

The alleged paper leak has once again raised serious concerns regarding the security and integrity of large-scale competitive examinations in the country. Education experts and students have demanded stricter safeguards, improved digital monitoring, and stronger accountability mechanisms to prevent future breaches. The controversy has also placed the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts NEET, under intense scrutiny regarding examination security protocols and administrative oversight.

As the investigation progresses, the CBI is expected to further examine financial transactions, digital evidence, and communication records linked to the suspected leak network. Legal experts note that making individuals involved in the chain witnesses instead of accused persons can sometimes help investigators strengthen broader conspiracy cases. The outcome of the probe is likely to have major implications not only for those directly implicated but also for future reforms in India’s highly competitive examination system.
