Distraught mother jumps from 13th floor with son.
In a heart-wrenching incident in Greater Noida, 37-year-old Sakshi Chawla and her 11-year-old son, Daksh, died after jumping from their 13th-floor apartment in Ace City on Saturday. The tragedy, which has left the community in shock, is believed to have been driven by Sakshi's overwhelming distress over her son’s prolonged mental health struggles.
Sakshi and her husband, Darpan Chawla, a chartered accountant, had been grappling with their son’s condition for over a decade. Daksh had been receiving treatment for mental health issues, and the prolonged ordeal reportedly took a heavy toll on Sakshi. According to police reports, Darpan was at home during the incident but in a different room. Hearing a scream, he rushed to the balcony, only to witness the devastating sight of his wife and son on the ground below.
Responding swiftly, police arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent them for autopsy. During their investigation, authorities discovered a poignant suicide note addressed to Darpan. In it, Sakshi wrote, "We are leaving this world... Sorry. We do not want to trouble you anymore. Your life should not be ruined because of us. No one is responsible for our death." The note has added a layer of heartbreak to an already tragic event, shedding light on Sakshi’s emotional turmoil.

Shakti Avasthy, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Central Noida, confirmed the recovery of the note and noted that Daksh’s ongoing illness appeared to be a significant factor. "A police team found a suicide note and learnt that the son was unwell for some time. We are taking necessary steps," Avasthy stated. While preliminary findings point to mental stress as the driving force behind Sakshi’s actions, a thorough investigation is underway to understand the full circumstances.
The incident has deeply affected neighbors and the wider Ace City community, with many expressing disbelief and sorrow. Mental health experts emphasize that such tragedies highlight the urgent need for accessible mental health support for both patients and their caregivers. As the investigation continues, this devastating event serves as a stark reminder of the silent struggles many families face and the importance of addressing mental health challenges with compassion and resources.
