Mauritius PM visits Ram Temple, highlighting deep India-Mauritius cultural ties.

Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam offered prayers at the revered Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday, marking a significant moment during his ongoing state visit to India from September 9 to 16. Upon arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, joined by UP Cabinet Minister Surya Pratap Shahi.

Shahi highlighted the deep cultural ties between India and Mauritius, noting, “A large number of people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar migrated to Mauritius during British rule and are now in the mainstream there, keeping India’s cultural identity alive.” He extended a heartfelt welcome to Ramgoolam, emphasizing the significance of his visit to the spiritual hub of Ayodhya.

Earlier in the day, Ramgoolam visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, further underscoring his engagement with India’s spiritual heritage. On Thursday, he held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations. The Mauritius leader’s visit to Ayodhya reflects the shared cultural bonds and mutual respect that continue to define India-Mauritius relations.
