A catastrophic collision rocked Thane’s bustling Ghodbunder Road in the early hours of Saturday when a tanker carrying 32,000 litres of boiler oil plowed into a stationary truck, leaving one person gravely injured, authorities reported.
The dramatic crash occurred around 4:20 AM in the Waghbil area, according to Yasin Tadvi, head of the Thane Municipal Corporation’s disaster management cell. Miraculously, no oil spill was reported, averting a potential environmental disaster. The tanker, en route from Sewri to Sinnar, lost control and slammed into a truck loaded with 10 tonnes of wood, parked along the road.
The tanker driver, trapped in the wreckage, was heroically freed by rescue teams and rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The impact disrupted traffic on the busy Ghodbunder Road for nearly 40 minutes, causing chaos for early morning commuters.

Authorities have since cleared the scene, moving the damaged tanker to the roadside. Police are investigating the cause of the driver’s loss of control in this heart-stopping incident.
