Man Climbs Crane At Karnataka Construction Site; Officials Assess Situation

A man allegedly climbed a crane at a metro construction site in Bengaluru's Marathahalli area on Sunday night, prompting a rescue operation and causing concern among workers. According to police, the incident occurred while metro construction work was in progress. The man reportedly managed to scale the crane and enter the operator's cabin before being safely brought down by staff at the site. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Police said the individual was partially clothed when he climbed the crane, leading to panic among construction workers. Site personnel noticed the man inside the crane's operator cabin and intervened to safely rescue him. Authorities responded to the scene after receiving information about the incident and began gathering details about what had transpired.
Following the rescue, reports emerged alleging that the man had been tied up and assaulted by workers at the construction site. However, a Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) official denied the allegations. Police said they are conducting an inquiry to verify the claims and determine whether any assault took place after the rescue operation.

A senior police officer stated that the man appeared to be mentally unstable and said no complaint had been received from BMRCL regarding the incident. As a result, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered so far. Police added that further action, if required, would depend on the findings of the inquiry and any formal complaint received.
After the incident, the man was handed over to his family members. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the episode, while the inquiry into the allegations made after the rescue remains underway. The incident briefly disrupted activities at the metro construction site before normal work resumed.
