Maharashtra’s Ruling Alliance Marks One Year With Major Reforms and Development Benchmarks
Maharashtra’s Mahayuti government releases its one-year progress report showcasing development, welfare initiatives, and infrastructure expansion.
The Devendra Fadnavis-led Mahayuti government marked its first anniversary on Friday by releasing a detailed “Progress Report Card,” claiming to have laid a strong foundation for a “Viksit Maharashtra” in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule presented the report at a press conference, describing the past year as one of “stable, transparent, and result-oriented governance” under the BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP alliance.
Highlighting unprecedented farmer support, Bawankule said the government rolled out a ₹32,000-crore relief package for those hit by excess rainfall and natural calamities, stayed crop loan recovery, expedited insurance payouts, and granted agriculture status to animal husbandry and fisheries. Over 37,000 water conservation works were completed under Jalyukt Shivar 2.0, while major river-linking projects like Wainganga-Nalganga and Damanganga-Ekdare-Godavari received clearance.
On the economic front, the government claimed record industrial growth with ₹16 lakh crore in MoUs signed at Davos—80 percent already under implementation—and ₹1.64 lakh crore in FDI inflow for 2024-25, a 34 percent jump year-on-year. Over 1.5 lakh government jobs and 45,000 police recruitments were completed or initiated, alongside rapid infrastructure expansion, including the fully operational Samruddhi Mahamarg and accelerated Mumbai Metro development.
Women’s empowerment remained a flagship focus with the successful rollout of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana and plans for Umed Malls in 10 districts to support self-help groups. Cultural initiatives included construction of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorials in Agra and a Maratha bravery memorial in Panipat.
The government also emphasized digital governance, making services available on WhatsApp, digitizing land records, waiving student certificate fees, and offering free sand for PMAY beneficiaries. Bawankule concluded by asserting that “every decision, every rupee, and every policy” is dedicated to making Maharashtra the most progressive state by 2047.
As the alliance prepares for the next electoral cycle, the report positions the government as delivery-focused, though the Opposition has questioned the actual on-the-ground impact of several schemes.
