Maharashtra Minister Meghana Bordikar’s Threat to Slap Official Sparks Outrage
Minister threatens to slap officer in viral video!
A video of Maharashtra Minister of State Meghana Bordikar threatening to slap a gram sevak during a public event in Bori village, Jintur taluka, Parbhani district, on August 2, 2025, has ignited a political firestorm. Shared by NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on X, the clip shows Bordikar, the BJP’s Public Health and Parbhani Guardian Minister, berating the village official for failing to bring enough beneficiaries to a housing scheme event, saying, “If you work like this, I’ll slap you. Who pays your salary? You’ll be suspended immediately.” Pawar slammed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, writing, “What kind of ‘sajjan’ ministers have you found? Your cabinet’s image is damaged, and Maharashtra’s dignity is compromised.”
Bordikar defended her outburst, claiming the gram sevak was harassing women laborers and delaying their PM Awas Yojana benefits, alleging he demanded bribes and sent them repeatedly to the sarpanch’s house. “My anger was for my sisters’ rights,” she told reporters, accusing Pawar of sharing an edited clip to mislead the public. Parbhani BJP chief Suresh Bhumare backed her, alleging an ex-MLA from Ajit Pawar’s NCP sent the edited video to Rohit Pawar, hinting at collusion between NCP factions.
Fadnavis downplayed the incident on August 3, saying, “Ministers sometimes speak in jest. Blowing every comment out of proportion isn’t right. I’ve spoken to Bordikar; only a selected portion was shown.” He also defended Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat, caught in a separate controversy over public fund remarks, suggesting such statements shouldn’t be overblown. However, opposition leaders, including Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Uddhav Thackeray, criticized Fadnavis’s “helplessness” under “alliance dharma,” with Aditya Thackeray mocking the CM’s cabinet on X.

The controversy, following recent Mahayuti embarrassments like NCP minister Manikrao Kokate’s rummy-playing scandal, has fueled public discontent. X posts under #MaharashtraPolitics and #BordikarControversy reflect outrage, with users decrying ministerial arrogance, though some defend Bordikar, citing the gram sevak’s alleged corruption. The incident, set against Maharashtra’s 230-seat Mahayuti victory in 2024, underscores tensions within the BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP alliance and scrutiny of Fadnavis’s leadership ahead of the 2026 elections.
