Maharashtra Leaders Celebrate Radhakrishnan’s VP Nomination
Fadnavis, Deputies Hail NDA’s Vice Presidential Candidate
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, extended heartfelt congratulations to Governor C P Radhakrishnan for his nomination as the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) Vice Presidential candidate. The announcement, made by BJP president J P Nadda following a parliamentary board meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has sparked widespread enthusiasm in Maharashtra.
Fadnavis personally visited Raj Bhavan in south Mumbai to convey his greetings to Radhakrishnan, a seasoned BJP leader from Tamil Nadu with deep RSS roots. “Heartiest congratulations to Hon. C P Radhakrishnan ji on his selection as the NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate,” Fadnavis posted on X. He praised Radhakrishnan’s extensive experience as a two-time Lok Sabha MP from Coimbatore and as a governor in Jharkhand, Telangana, Puducherry, and currently Maharashtra, noting that his expertise in legislative and constitutional matters makes him an ideal choice. “His nomination fills Maharashtrians with immense pride,” Fadnavis added.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, representing the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), also expressed his support. “Congratulations to Maharashtra Governor Shri C P Radhakrishnan ji on being announced as the NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate,” Pawar wrote on X. He expressed confidence that Radhakrishnan’s vast experience and dedication would elevate the prestige of the Vice President’s office, which also includes chairing the Rajya Sabha.

Eknath Shinde, leader of the Shiv Sena and another deputy CM, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the NDA’s choice of a “wise, honest, and patriotic” leader under Modi’s guidance. “On behalf of Shiv Sena, I announce full support for Radhakrishnan’s candidacy,” Shinde posted on X. He highlighted Radhakrishnan’s parliamentary and administrative expertise, predicting a successful tenure that would contribute to India’s bright future. “His victory is certain, and I wish him a remarkable term,” Shinde added.
The NCP and Shiv Sena, key NDA allies in Maharashtra, have rallied behind Radhakrishnan, reinforcing the coalition’s unity. The vice-presidential election, triggered by the resignation of incumbent Jagdeep Dhankhar last month, is slated for September 9, with nominations closing on August 21. Radhakrishnan’s nomination, backed by his extensive track record and cross-party respect, positions him as a strong contender to uphold the dignity of one of India’s highest constitutional offices.
