Madhya Pradesh Set to Unveil Longest Flyover in Jabalpur

Jabalpur's Game-Changing Flyover opens tomorrow.

Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, is set to transform urban commuting with the inauguration of the state’s longest flyover on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Stretching 6.855 km from Madan Mahal to Damoh Naka, this engineering marvel, costing Rs 1,052 crore, is designed to ease traffic congestion and enhance connectivity in the culturally rich city. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will officiate the opening, marking a significant milestone in Madhya Pradesh’s infrastructure development.

The elevated corridor, initiated in 2019 with its foundation stone laid by Gadkari, features cutting-edge design elements, including a 192-metre single-span cable-stayed bridge over a railway line, a first for the region. Additionally, the flyover incorporates three 70-metre bow-string bridges at Ranital (two) and Baldeobagh (one), all constructed entirely of steel for durability and aesthetic appeal. These features ensure seamless traffic flow and showcase modern engineering prowess.

This flyover is expected to slash travel time between Madan Mahal and Damoh Naka from 40-45 minutes to just 6-7 minutes, saving fuel and reducing air pollution. To enhance the commuter experience, ten directional signboards have been installed for easy navigation. The project also integrates environmental and community benefits, with 50,000 saplings planted beneath the structure to promote greenery and combat pollution. Public amenities, including a basketball court, an open gym, and a children’s park, have been developed under the flyover, creating vibrant community spaces.

Beyond functionality, the flyover reflects Jabalpur’s cultural and historical essence, blending modern infrastructure with the city’s heritage. It is poised to boost local businesses by improving access for residents and tourists alike, fostering economic growth. A section of the flyover, from Chhoti Line to Gulati Petrol Pump, was opened in September 2023 by then-Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, ahead of the state assembly elections, offering a glimpse of its transformative potential.

This project underscores Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to sustainable urban development and sets a benchmark for future infrastructure initiatives in the state.
