Madhya Pradesh Increases Land Acquisition Compensation Under Revised Rural Formula
Madhya Pradesh increases land acquisition compensation, ensuring farmers receive four times payout under revised policy.
The Madhya Pradesh Government has announced a major policy decision aimed at increasing compensation for farmers whose land is acquired for mega infrastructure and public development projects. The move is part of a broader set of reforms and welfare measures approved by the state Cabinet on Wednesday, focusing on agriculture, infrastructure, education, and healthcare across the state.
Under the revised framework of the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2015, the government has increased the “multiplication factor” for rural land from one to two. With this revision, farmers will now receive up to four times the compensation for land acquired for government or public projects. Officials said the decision is intended to ensure greater fairness, transparency, and financial security for landowners affected by large-scale development works.
The Cabinet also cleared infrastructure and development projects worth more than ₹33,000 crore across multiple sectors. According to state officials, one of the key approvals includes the Indo-Rudrahada Micro-Irrigation Project in Ujjain, valued at ₹157 crore, which is expected to bring around 10,800 hectares of farmland under irrigation and benefit 35 villages. Another major allocation includes an expanded rehabilitation package for the Ken-Betwa river linking project, with an additional ₹128 crore approved for affected regions.

Significant investments were also made in public infrastructure and education. The Public Works Department received approvals worth ₹25,164 crore for upgrading rural roads, bridges, and government buildings. In the education sector, the free bicycle scheme for students in Classes 6 and 9 has been expanded with an allocation of ₹990 crore. Additionally, ₹1,200 crore has been earmarked to strengthen teacher training institutions, aimed at improving learning outcomes across schools in the state.
Healthcare was another major focus area, with ₹5,779 crore sanctioned to enhance medical infrastructure and services. Under the newly introduced ‘CM Care’ scheme, the government plans to strengthen facilities in oncology, cardiology, and organ transplantation. The initiative also includes arrangements for accommodation and meals for patients’ attendants at government hospitals through partnerships with non-profit organisations, improving access and convenience for families.
The state government further highlighted progress under several ongoing welfare initiatives, including the ‘Sankalp Se Samadhan Abhiyan,’ which reportedly resolved millions of citizen applications, and the ‘Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan,’ which has improved water conservation rankings nationally. Officials also announced approval for the development of Janapav, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Parashurama, as part of efforts to promote cultural heritage and tourism in the state.
