Madhya Pradesh Govt Conducts Major IAS, IPS Reshuffle
Madhya Pradesh government reassigns 30 IPS, 14 IAS officers.
In a sweeping administrative overhaul, the Madhya Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has executed a major reshuffle, transferring 30 Indian Police Service (IPS) and 14 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. The General Administration Department (GAD) issued a series of notifications late Monday night, reassigning key officials across districts and departments to streamline governance and enhance administrative efficiency in the state.
The reshuffle significantly impacts district leadership, with new collectors appointed in five key districts: Indore, Jabalpur, Katni, Barwani, and Agar-Malwa. Notably, Sudam Khade, previously the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the state government, has been elevated to Commissioner of the Jabalpur division. Jabalpur District Collector Deepka Sexena will now take over as the new PRO at the Directorate of Public Relations (DPR). In Indore, the state’s commercial hub, District Collector Ashish Singh has been appointed Commissioner of the Ujjain division, while Indore Municipal Commissioner Shivam Verma steps into the role of Indore’s new Collector.
Further changes include the transfer of Indore division Commissioner Deepak Singh to Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission, replacing Abhishek Singh, who has been reassigned as Secretary in the Home Department. The IPS reshuffle involves officers of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Superintendent of Police (SP) ranks. Rajeev Mishra has been named the new SP of Ashoknagar, and Mayank Awasthi will assume the role of SP in Dhar, replacing the previous incumbents. New DIGs have been appointed in Indore Rural, Chhatarpur, Balaghat, Bhopal Rural, Ratlam, and Sagar ranges, with notable transfers including Chhatarpur DIG Lalit Shakyawar and Sagar DIG Sunil Kumar Pandey to Police Headquarters in Bhopal, and Balaghat DIG Mukesh Kumar Srivastava to the State Human Rights Commission.

Additional Commissioners of Police (HQ and Crime) in Indore and Bhopal have also been reshuffled, while Ratlam DIG Manoj Kumar Singh has been moved to the Lokayukta Department of the MP Police, and Bhopal Rural DIG Omprakash Tripathi is now DIG of the Special Armed Force, Central Zone. These changes reflect the government’s intent to strengthen administrative and policing frameworks across urban and rural regions.
The reshuffle comes amidst efforts to address administrative vacancies and improve governance in Madhya Pradesh, which currently faces 66 IAS and 48 IPS vacancies, as per recent data. Political analysts suggest the moves are strategic, aiming to position trusted officers in key roles ahead of upcoming challenges, including local elections and development initiatives. As the state navigates a complex administrative landscape, the reshuffle signals Chief Minister Yadav’s push for a more responsive and efficient bureaucracy to deliver on his government’s agenda.
