L&T, BEL Join Forces to Revolutionize Indian Air Force Tech
L&T and BEL partner to boost India’s air defense capabilities.
In a groundbreaking move to bolster India’s defense capabilities, infrastructure giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has teamed up with Navratna defense PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) to deliver cutting-edge technologies for the Indian Air Force. This strategic collaboration, announced on Wednesday, aims to support the ambitious Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program, a cornerstone of India’s push for self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
The partnership brings together L&T’s expertise in engineering and aerospace platforms with BEL’s deep experience in defense electronics and avionics systems. The duo has already submitted a response to the Expression of Interest notice issued by the Government of India’s Aeronautical Development Agency, signaling their intent to play a pivotal role in developing India’s 5th-generation fighter aircraft. This collaboration is poised to enhance national security while advancing the "Make in India" initiative.

The collaboration builds on the companies’ proven track record in India’s indigenous Light Combat Aircraft program, where L&T supplied major aero-structure modules and BEL developed mission-critical avionics and electronic systems. Their combined expertise is expected to drive innovation in the AMCA program, ensuring the Indian Air Force is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to meet modern warfare challenges.
