Lok Sabha Speaker and Vice President Hold Key Meeting Ahead of Parliament Session
Om Birla and Vice President Radhakrishnan meet to discuss coordination between Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday met Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan at the Vice President’s Enclave in the national capital. This marks the first formal meeting between the two constitutional authorities since Radhakrishnan assumed office as Vice President last month.
The meeting between Birla and Radhakrishnan holds significance as both play pivotal roles in steering the proceedings of the two Houses of Parliament. While the Speaker oversees Lok Sabha, the Vice President serves as the ex-officio Chairperson of Rajya Sabha. Their coordination is crucial for ensuring smooth functioning of legislative business, especially during sessions that often see heated debates and disruptions.
According to an official statement from the Vice President’s Secretariat, “Hon'ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, called on Hon'ble Vice-President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, at the Vice-President's Enclave today.”

The meeting comes ahead of the upcoming Parliament session and is being seen as part of efforts to strengthen communication between the two Houses. Parliamentary observers note that with a new Vice President at the helm, such exchanges are expected to set the tone for collaborative legislative management.
Both leaders are expected to play a key role in guiding parliamentary discussions on critical policy and governance issues in the months ahead. Their first meeting underscores the institutional tradition of dialogue between the two presiding officers aimed at maintaining balance, order, and efficiency in India’s parliamentary democracy.
