Leaders Hail PM Modi’s Seychelles Visit As National Pride For India
Leaders praise PM Modi’s Seychelles visit, term it a national pride moment.
Political leaders across party lines on Saturday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s three-day State Visit to Seychelles, describing it as a reflection of India’s growing diplomatic influence and expanding role in the Indian Ocean Region. The visit, which includes participation in the island nation’s Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations, was widely hailed as a moment of national pride and strategic significance.
The Prime Minister’s trip comes at the invitation of Seychelles President Patrick Herminie, with India and Seychelles expected to further strengthen cooperation in maritime security, trade, and regional development. Officials noted that the visit aligns with India’s broader foreign policy focus on enhancing partnerships across the Global South and reinforcing stability in strategically important maritime zones.
Reacting to the visit, Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Nishad said it reflects India’s long-standing philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” emphasizing global unity and cooperation. He said increased international engagement allows countries to exchange cultures, systems, and economic opportunities, ultimately benefiting mutual development in an interconnected world.

He said India’s diplomatic engagements are increasingly being recognised worldwide, strengthening its position as a “Vishwa Bandhu” or friend to the world.
Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC highlighted India’s long-standing relationship with Seychelles, noting that bilateral ties span over five decades. She said cooperation in maritime security, shipping, and trade remains central to the partnership and added that India’s expanding diplomatic presence reflects consistent engagement rather than symbolic outreach.
Meanwhile, JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar described the visit as a matter of national pride, stating that it is an honour for India when its Prime Minister is invited as a guest of honour at major international events. He added that such engagements reinforce India’s global stature and support its vision of a secure, peaceful, and prosperous Indian Ocean Region.
