The month of December proved exceptionally strong for both rail and water services, largely fueled by heightened tourist activity surrounding the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, which drove substantial demand on key routes such as High Court to Fort Kochi, resulting in daily water metro ridership consistently exceeding 10,000 and reaching a peak of 17,058 passengers on December 28.
Kochi Metro Rail Limited Managing Director Loknath Behera credited the outstanding performance to unwavering operational punctuality, maintained cleanliness and hygiene standards, courteous staff interactions, and improved first- and last-mile connectivity via 15 electric feeder buses, which themselves recorded a peak single-day usage of 6,817 passengers on New Year's Eve with extended operations running until 4 a.m. to accommodate festive crowds.
