KMC Demands Building Documents From Abhishek Banerjee Linked Property
KMC seeks elevation copy of building linked to Abhishek Banerjee company.
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has sought an “elevation copy” of a building linked to a company associated with Trinamool Congress general secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee, as part of an ongoing compliance process related to municipal notices issued earlier. The request pertains to a property located at Harish Mukherjee Road in South Kolkata, which has come under scrutiny by civic authorities.
The building in question, located at 188A Harish Mukherjee Road and named “Santiniketan,” is registered in the name of a corporate entity, Leaps & Bounds Private Limited. Although owned by the company, it has reportedly been used as a residential property linked to Abhishek Banerjee. The KMC has asked that the elevation drawing be attached along with the response to its earlier notice served to the property.
Municipal authorities have clarified that a standard written reply will not be sufficient for compliance. Instead, they have directed that the elevation copy must clearly reflect the structural layout of the building, including any alterations or additions made to the original construction. Officials said such documentation is necessary to verify whether any deviations from approved building plans have occurred.

An elevation copy, in architectural terms, refers to a detailed scaled drawing of a building’s vertical exterior view. It typically illustrates structural elements such as walls, roofs, doors, windows, and exterior finishes. According to officials, such drawings are an essential part of the approval process under the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Building Rules, 2009, and are used to detect unauthorized construction.
Sources indicated that notices have been issued to a total of 17 properties either owned or co-owned by Abhishek Banerjee, and similar documentation requirements are expected for each case. The KMC maintains copies of approved building plans submitted during construction, while the original applicants also retain duplicate records for verification purposes.
The development comes amid long-standing political debate in West Bengal over properties linked to members of the ruling Trinamool Congress leadership. Opposition parties have previously raised allegations regarding ownership and registration of multiple properties connected to the Banerjee family, claims which have been consistently denied by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has described them as politically motivated accusations.
