Kidnapped Telangana Boy Found After 12 Days; Accused Says He Took Him To Hospital
Abducted Telangana boy rescued after 12 days; investigation continues.
A five-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped from Secunderabad Railway Station in Telangana has been found safe after 12 days, bringing relief to his family and prompting further investigation by police. The child, identified as Nikhil, was reunited with his mother and grandmother after officials confirmed his identity, ending an extensive search operation conducted by multiple police teams.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred while the boy was sleeping beside his grandmother at the railway station. He was allegedly taken away by an unidentified man, prompting the Government Railway Police (GRP) to register a kidnapping case. CCTV footage from the station later showed a man walking away with the child, which became a key lead in the investigation.
Following the incident, police formed four special teams and traced leads across multiple locations, including Hyderabad and Vijayawada, in an effort to locate the missing child. After nearly two weeks of search operations, the case took a turn when the boy was unexpectedly brought to the Jeedimetla Police Station in Hyderabad by a man identified as the suspect.

The accused, identified as Sheikh Mahboob Ali, reportedly told police that he found the child on June 29 and later took him to a hospital as the boy was suffering from a high fever. He claimed that he provided medical care and new clothes before deciding to hand the child over to authorities after his recovery. However, investigators have expressed doubts over his statement, citing CCTV footage that allegedly shows him taking the child away on the day of the incident.
Police said the suspect works at a hotel and resides with his mother after being separated from his family. Officials noted that the motive behind the alleged abduction remains unclear and is currently under investigation. Authorities are examining all evidence, including video footage and witness accounts, to determine the circumstances surrounding the case.
After verifying the child’s identity through a video call with his mother, police facilitated an emotional reunion at the station. Officials described the recovery as a major relief and confirmed that the case has been handed back to the Government Railway Police for further investigation and legal proceedings against the accused.
