Kerala CM Lays Foundation for Adani Logistics Park
Kerala CM launches Rs 600 crore Kalamassery project.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan laid the foundation stone for the Adani Logistics Park in Kalamassery on Saturday, heralding a transformative chapter in the state’s industrial landscape. Spanning 70 acres near the HMT industrial area, the Rs 600 crore project, spearheaded by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), is poised to create over 1,500 jobs and bolster Kerala’s connectivity to global markets, according to Industries Minister P. Rajeeve, who presided over the ceremony.
The logistics park, a flagship initiative under the Invest Kerala Global Summit held in February 2025, will cover 1.3 million square feet and feature cutting-edge technologies like EV charging stations, digital integration, and smart logistics solutions. “This is a logistics hub built for the world, connecting Kalamassery to global trade,” said Ashwani Gupta, CEO of APSEZ, calling it a “historic milestone.” The facility aims to enhance exports in sectors like e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, automotive, and retail while prioritizing sustainability.
Vijayan emphasized the project’s role in positioning Kochi as a major logistics hub, leveraging its proximity to Cochin Port and Vizhinjam. “This marks a new era in Kerala’s industrial history,” he said, highlighting the state’s investor-friendly policies. The event saw the presence of senior Adani officials, including Pankaj Bhardwaj, Business Head of Adani Agri Logistics, and Pradeep Jayaraman, CEO of Adani Vizhinjam Port, alongside Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan.

The project has overcome hurdles, including resolving residents’ concerns over road access, ensuring smooth implementation. With an estimated 1,000 direct jobs and numerous indirect opportunities, the park is expected to empower local SMEs and drive economic growth, reinforcing Kerala’s ambition to become a logistics powerhouse.
