Kashmir Turns into a Fortress! Amit Shah's 3-Day Visit Starts Today
Amit Shah Embarks on 3-Day J&K Visit to Bolster Security and Development
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to begin a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, focusing on security assessments and development initiatives.
Arriving in Jammu Sunday evening, Shah will kick off his tour by meeting BJP MLAs and party officials, signaling a blend of political and administrative priorities.
On Monday, Shah will visit the BSF Border Out Post Vinay in Kathua to evaluate the situation along the India-Pakistan border, a critical area amid recent tensions.
Later, at Raj Bhavan in Jammu, he will honor families of Jammu and Kashmir Police martyrs, presenting appointment letters to some selected on compassionate grounds—a gesture underscoring support for security personnel.
Tuesday’s agenda shifts to Srinagar, where Shah will review development programs at Raj Bhavan, followed by a high-level security meeting. These discussions come against the backdrop of significant progress highlighted in his March 21 Rajya Sabha address.
Shah noted a decline in terrorist incidents from 7,217 between 2004-2014 to 2,242 from 2014-2024, with total deaths dropping 70%, civilian fatalities falling 81%, and security personnel losses halving. He cited 2024’s 85 incidents compared to 1,587 in 2004, with civilian deaths at 26 versus 733, and security deaths at 31 versus 331.
Shah also emphasized the end of stone-pelting, with no incidents in 2024 compared to an annual average of 2,654 from 2010-2014, which once claimed 112 civilian lives and injured 6,000. Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s democratic foundation in Kashmir, Shah vowed a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism, stating the government now targets terrorists decisively. This visit reinforces that commitment as Srinagar stands fortified ahead of his arrival.
