Karnataka Urges Voters To Submit Enumeration Forms During Roll Revision

Karnataka asks voters to complete forms during electoral roll revision.

Karnataka election authorities have warned voters that failure to submit completed enumeration forms by July 29 could result in their names not appearing in the draft electoral roll during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka clarified that the draft roll will include only those electors whose enumeration forms have been received and verified by election officials. The warning comes as the state continues its large-scale exercise to update and verify voter records.

As part of the revision process, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been visiting households across Karnataka to distribute and collect Enumeration Forms. Officials have urged eligible voters to complete the forms and submit them within the deadline to avoid difficulties during the publication of the draft voter list. The district administration has confirmed that there will be no extension to the July 29 submission deadline.

The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on August 5, after which voters will have an opportunity to raise corrections, claims, and objections until September 4. Election authorities will examine and dispose of the objections between August 5 and October 3. The final electoral roll is expected to be released on October 7 following the completion of verification and correction procedures.

Officials have clarified that failure to submit the enumeration form does not mean permanent deletion from the electoral list. Voters whose names are missing from the draft roll will still have the option to submit claims and objections during the designated period. Authorities said the revision process is aimed at ensuring that all eligible citizens are included while removing duplicate, deceased, shifted, or otherwise invalid entries from electoral records.

The enumeration drive has recorded significant progress across the state, with Karnataka achieving 96.69% coverage so far. In Dharwad district, Booth Level Officers have distributed 15,19,544 enumeration forms among an electorate of 16,21,961 voters. The administration is working to complete the remaining distribution process, while a portion of the submitted forms has already been digitised as part of the verification exercise. Election officials have appealed to voters to cooperate with the revision process and complete the required formalities within the given timeline. Authorities said timely submission of enumeration forms will help ensure accurate electoral records and allow eligible voters to participate without issues in future elections.
