Karnataka Station Master Rescues Passenger Attempting to Board Moving Train

A Karnataka station master’s swift action saved a passenger who slipped while boarding a moving train.

Station Master Abhijit Singh displayed remarkable alertness and bravery by saving a passenger from a potentially fatal fall while attempting to board a moving train at Pandavapura railway station on December 13, 2025. The incident involved Train No. 16219, the Chamarajanagar-Tirupati Express, where a 55-year-old passenger named Shivaraju Katteri ignored warnings and rushed to board the departing train. Singh's swift intervention pulled the man back to safety just as he slipped.

A video of the dramatic rescue, captured on CCTV, went viral after being shared by Southwestern Railway on its official X account on December 19. The footage shows the passenger in a white shirt losing balance near the moving train before Singh rushes forward to grab and pull him away from danger. The timely action prevented what could have been a serious accident or fatality.

South Western Railway praised Abhijit Singh for his "extraordinary presence of mind and unwavering devotion to duty," highlighting his selfless act in averting tragedy. The post garnered widespread appreciation online, with users commending his vigilance and quick thinking. Many emphasised the importance of passenger safety and avoiding attempts to board or alight from moving trains.
