Karnataka Shopkeeper Booked For Attempt to Murder After Knife Attack on Minor

A 17-year-old college student was allegedly attacked with a knife while waiting for a bus on Monday, prompting police to register an attempt to murder case and launch a search for the accused. The incident took place at the Montimaru Padpu bus stop, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Bantwal Rural Police Station.

According to police, the minor girl was waiting at the bus stop to board a bus to college when the accused allegedly approached and attacked her with a knife. Other commuters present at the bus stop witnessed the incident and immediately raised an alarm, forcing the attacker to flee the spot before he could be caught.

The accused has been identified as 28-year-old Javvar, a resident of Montimaru Padpu. Police said he reportedly runs a grocery shop near the bus stop where the attack took place. A search operation has been launched to trace the accused, who remained on the run following the incident.

The injured student was immediately taken to a private hospital in Mangaluru, where she is undergoing treatment. Bantwal Rural Police personnel visited the scene of the attack and began collecting information about the sequence of events. Officers later went to the hospital and recorded the victim’s statement as part of the investigation.

The exact motive behind the attack has not yet been established, and police are examining the circumstances that led to the incident. Investigators are expected to gather further evidence and speak to people who were present at the bus stop at the time of the attack as they work to determine what triggered the alleged assault.

A special police team has been formed to trace and arrest the accused. Police have intensified efforts to locate him while the investigation into the attempt to murder case continues.
