Karnataka Home Minister Says Shivakumar’s Meetings With Party High Command Are Routine
Karnataka Home Minister says Dy CM Shivakumar’s meetings with party high command are routine political activity.
Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara on Monday described recent political meetings involving Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and senior Congress leaders as routine political developments, amid ongoing discussions on governance, internal party dynamics, and administrative issues in the state.
Speaking to the media in Bengaluru, Parameshwara said the meetings between the “DK brothers” — D.K. Shivakumar and former MP D.K. Suresh — with the party high command in New Delhi should be seen as a normal part of political functioning. He added that such engagements are natural in politics and should not be viewed with undue speculation. He also noted that his own meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was part of regular political activity.
Addressing Shivakumar’s recent visit to meet Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Parameshwara said the discussions reportedly involved state-related issues and matters concerning the defence sector. On Shivakumar’s remark that details of internal discussions would eventually come out, the Home Minister termed it a political statement and said it did not require further interpretation.

Parameshwara also responded to comments made by Minister for Public Works Department Satish Jarkiholi, who had suggested that the government was facing hurdles from AHINDA communities in fulfilling its promises. The Home Minister said it was Jarkiholi’s personal view and declined to elaborate further, stating that he had no additional comments on the matter.
On the progress of the caste census report, Parameshwara said there was no fixed deadline and that the process could face delays due to various factors, including elections, political developments, and Assembly sessions. He added that he did not have complete details and would not comment further on the timeline.
Turning to allegations of black marketing of IPL tickets, Parameshwara said an FIR had been registered and the police would take appropriate action against those involved. He clarified that ticket sales are conducted online and the government does not directly handle the process, adding that authorities would verify the allegations and proceed according to law.
