Karnataka Cabinet Clears Multi-Crore Infra, Waste Management and Irrigation Projects

Cabinet approves massive waste and irrigation projects.

The Karnataka Cabinet, during its meeting, granted approval for a series of ambitious infrastructure, waste management, and irrigation initiatives collectively valued at several thousand crores, demonstrating a committed focus on sustainable urban development in Bengaluru and enhanced agricultural support across North Karnataka regions.

A flagship decision involved sanctioning a comprehensive Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste management project within the Greater Bengaluru Authority limits, estimated at ₹1,714.83 crore under a public-private partnership model spanning 15 years, designed to systematically collect, transport, and process 2,250 metric tonnes of waste daily through three dedicated packages of 750 tonnes each, thereby advancing scientific waste disposal practices and reducing environmental hazards in the rapidly expanding metropolitan area.

Additional urban infrastructure enhancements included the allocation of ₹275.53 crore for constructing a 2.03-kilometre elevated corridor in Belagavi city connecting National Highway-48 to Dharmaveer Sambhaji Circle via key junctions, aimed at alleviating chronic traffic congestion, alongside ₹49.30 crore for replacing pumps in Cauvery water supply schemes and ₹38.33 crore for five-year operation and maintenance of a 550 MLD water treatment plant, ensuring reliable water provisioning for Bengaluru residents.

The cabinet further advanced judicial modernisation by clearing the Karnataka District Judiciary Reforms Bill, 2025, facilitating artificial intelligence integration in case management and legal processes, while extending the 15th State Finance Commission term, modifying welfare food kits, and approving a ₹16.60 crore annexe at Haj Bhavan in Bengaluru, reflecting a broad-spectrum approach to governance and public service improvement.
