Kamal Nath Alleges Decline in PM-Kisan Beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh

Kamal Nath alleges decline in PM-Kisan beneficiaries in MP and delayed farmer payments.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath on Thursday alleged that more than three lakh farmers in the state have been removed from the beneficiary list of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme under the BJP-led state government. He claimed that the exclusion has taken place “in a hidden manner” and accused the government of misleading farmers while denying them rightful financial assistance. The allegations have triggered a political debate over the implementation of central welfare schemes in the state.

According to Kamal Nath, the number of beneficiaries under the scheme in Madhya Pradesh has dropped significantly over the past year. He stated that 86.49 lakh farmers received benefits during 2024–25, but the figure declined to 83.01 lakh in 2025–26. He said this reduction reflects deliberate exclusion rather than administrative correction. The Congress leader argued that such a decline is unusual given that the scheme is intended to expand financial coverage for farmers across the country.

Kamal Nath also raised concerns over pending verification processes, stating that e-KYC updates for over 80,000 farmers are still incomplete. In addition, he claimed that bank accounts of around 1.87 lakh farmers are not linked with Aadhaar numbers, which is reportedly preventing them from receiving instalment payments. He said these procedural gaps are being used as justification to delay or deny benefits to eligible farmers, further worsening their financial stress.

The Congress leader demanded immediate release of pending payments and urged the government to ensure that no eligible farmer is deprived of assistance. He also accused the administration of “harassing” farmers through bureaucratic delays and technical issues. Kamal Nath insisted that corrective action should be taken urgently to restore benefits to all affected beneficiaries without further delay.

In a separate allegation, Kamal Nath raised concerns about alleged cyber fraud in wheat procurement payments in Shivpuri district. He claimed that several farmers who sold wheat at Minimum Support Price (MSP) did not receive payments in their bank accounts, with funds allegedly diverted to suspicious accounts. He called for a thorough investigation into the matter and compensation for affected farmers. The state government has not yet issued an official response to the allegations.
