#JustIn: TCS Says No Internal Complaint Received, Nida Khan Not HR Head

TCS denies complaint, clarifies role amid ongoing probe

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has clarified that Nida Khan, central to the ongoing Nashik BPO unit probe, was not the HR head nor received any internal complaints about workplace misconduct. The IT giant stated Khan served as a process associate or telecaller without leadership authority or recruitment duties, countering media claims of her HR role. TCS announced an independent external investigation with board oversight, suspending implicated staff and directing Nashik employees to work from home.

The controversy erupted after eight female employees alleged sexual harassment, coercion, threats of termination, and forced religious conversion at the TCS-linked facility. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested six men and two women, recovering 78 suspicious call records, emails, and chats suggesting a pattern of abuse enabled by ignored grievances. Khan, 26 and reportedly absconding while claiming pregnancy, allegedly discouraged formal POSH complaints without escalation.

TCS CEO K Krithivasan emphasized zero tolerance for violations, full cooperation with Maharashtra Police, and inaccuracies in role designations. The probe examines Internal Complaints Committee lapses, potential financial transactions, and HR oversight failures amid nine FIRs. Nashik Police expanded scrutiny to workplace policies and digital evidence linking Khan to the accused.

This scandal tarnishes TCS's reputation as India's largest IT firm, highlighting BPO vulnerabilities despite robust POSH frameworks. No confirmed internal complaints reached TCS HR, per the company, raising questions on grievance mechanisms at third-party units. Legal teams challenge Khan's designation while seeking bail, complicating the timeline.

The independent panel aims for transparency, with TCS prioritizing employee safety and policy adherence. As SIT raids continue, outcomes could prompt industry-wide audits on vendor compliance. Stakeholders monitor developments in this high-profile case testing corporate accountability.
