#JUSTIN: Main Suspect Arrested in Rohit Shetty Shooting Case; 11 in Custody

Mumbai Crime Branch arrests key accused in Rohit Shetty shooting case; total detentions reach eleven.

In a major breakthrough in the high-profile shooting incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested the main suspect in the case and increased the total number of arrests to 11 as part of a multi-state investigation. The development comes more than two weeks after gunshots were fired near Shetty’s Juhu home in the early hours of February 1, 2026.

The principal suspect, identified as Deepak Chandra (also reported as Deepak Sharma) from Agra, was taken into custody during a coordinated operation involving the Mumbai Crime Branch and police forces from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Alongside him, several others believed to be connected to the conspiracy were detained from different states, reflecting the interstate reach of the probe.

The total arrest count has now reached 11 individuals, according to police sources. Earlier arrests included suspects believed to have provided logistical support such as the motorcycle used in the incident, as well as those facilitating shelter and movement for the primary accused. Some of those apprehended were traced from Pune and other northern regions.

The February 1 firing saw multiple rounds discharged outside the Shetty Tower residence in the upscale Juhu area, though no injuries were reported. The incident triggered immediate concern across the film fraternity and heightened scrutiny of security measures for prominent personalities in the city.

Police have linked the case to organised crime networks, and authorities continue to investigate possible motives, including extortion and gang rivalry. Some reports indicate alleged connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, an organised crime syndicate with a history of high-profile criminal cases. The investigation remains active, with law enforcement seeking to identify additional suspects and establish the full extent of the conspiracy.

As formal proceedings progress, those arrested are expected to be produced before court and face charges under various sections of criminal law, including arms offences and conspiracy. The Crime Branch has reiterated its commitment to dismantling any networks facilitating such attacks and ensuring robust security for residents and public figures alike.
