#JustIn: Indore Man Declared Dead Comes Back to Life Moments Before his Own Funeral
An Indore family is stunned as a 70-year-old, presumed dead after a brain haemorrhage, begins breathing just before his funeral.
In a remarkable incident described as a miracle by his family, a 70-year-old man in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, who was presumed dead following a brain haemorrhage, suddenly showed signs of life just hours before his funeral proceedings were set to begin. Makhanlal Vaid had been admitted to a private hospital in the city on November 1 after suffering a severe brain haemorrhage, where his condition deteriorated rapidly. Family members, believing he had passed away, brought his body home and began traditional mourning rituals, only for the unexpected revival to turn grief into celebration on November 7, 2025.
Sanjay Vaid, the man's son, recounted the sequence of events to the Press Trust of India (PTI), explaining that doctors at the hospital had likely declared his father dead based on the critical nature of the haemorrhage. Preparations for the funeral were underway, with relatives gathered in mourning, when Makhanlal Vaid began breathing again spontaneously.
This rare occurrence, sometimes attributed to medical phenomena like Lazarus syndrome—where a person experiences a return of circulation after cessation—left the family stunned and overjoyed. Sanjay emphasised that no autopsy or formal death certification details were immediately available, but the revival occurred at home without medical intervention at that moment.
Following the incident, Makhanlal Vaid was rushed back to medical care and is now recuperating at home under close supervision, showing signs of improvement. Family members have termed the event a divine miracle, highlighting the emotional rollercoaster from profound loss to renewed hope. Local authorities and hospital officials have not yet commented publicly on the case, but such incidents underscore the complexities of declaring death in cases of severe neurological trauma, where faint vital signs can sometimes be overlooked initially.
