#JUSTIN: Golders Green Stabbing Suspect Faces Multiple Attempted Murder Charges in Court Today

Man charged with attempted murder after stabbings of two Jewish men in London.

A 45-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following the stabbing of two Jewish men in north London, in an incident that has intensified concerns over antisemitic violence and prompted heightened security measures across the British capital.

The accused, identified by police as Essa Suleiman, faces two counts of attempted murder linked to the attack in Golders Green, an area known for its large Jewish community. He has also been charged with a third count of attempted murder related to a separate stabbing incident elsewhere in London on the same day, along with possession of a bladed article in a public place. He is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court.

The two victims, aged 34 and 76, were taken to hospital with serious injuries after the attack. Authorities later confirmed that the younger victim has since been discharged, while the older man remains in stable condition. Counter Terrorism Policing is leading the investigation, with officials treating the incident as a terrorist matter while continuing to examine motive and any possible links to extremist activity.

The stabbings have sparked alarm within Britain’s Jewish community, particularly as they come amid a series of attacks targeting Jewish institutions in recent weeks. The UK government has pledged stronger action against antisemitism, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer reaffirming support for affected communities and promising enhanced protective measures. Reports indicate that the national terrorism threat level has also been raised to “severe,” signalling that further attacks are considered highly likely.

Police have urged the public to avoid speculation while legal proceedings are underway. The incident has reignited debate over public safety, hate crime prevention, and the adequacy of existing counter-extremism mechanisms, especially after it emerged that the suspect had previously been referred to the government’s anti-radicalisation programme. As investigations continue, the case is expected to remain under close scrutiny across the UK.
