#JUSTIN: 15-Year-Old National-Level Shooter Missing Since Thursday in Kolkata

Police in West Bengal have launched a search operation for a 15-year-old national-level shooter who went missing after leaving her home in Howrah on Thursday afternoon. The missing teenager, identified as Damayanti Sen, is a resident of Umacharan Bhattacharjee Lane in central Howrah and had recently been selected for national shooting team trials. According to her family, she left home to buy household items but failed to return, prompting relatives to alert the police after extensive searches among friends, fellow shooters and family members yielded no leads.

Investigators said the last confirmed sighting of Damayanti came from CCTV footage at Howrah Railway Station, where she was seen moving between platforms 4 and 5 on Thursday morning. Police are now examining surveillance footage and other evidence to trace her movements after she was captured on camera. Officials confirmed that she was carrying her mobile phone when she left home and are attempting to gather technical and digital evidence that may help establish her whereabouts.

According to her parents, Damayanti maintained a disciplined routine focused on competitive shooting and had been preparing intensively after qualifying for the national trials. They told police there had been no recent disagreements or family issues that could explain her sudden disappearance. Relatives described her as dedicated to her sport and said her failure to return home was completely out of character, increasing concern among family members and the local community.

In a social media appeal, Damayanti's mother shared details of her daughter's last known appearance and requested the public's assistance in locating her. She said the teenager was last seen at around 10 a.m. on platforms 4 and 5 of Howrah Railway Station wearing a pink half-sleeve T-shirt and shorts. The family urged anyone with information about her whereabouts to immediately contact the numbers provided or inform the nearest police station.

By Friday morning, Damayanti had still not been located, and concern continued to grow among relatives, neighbours and members of the shooting fraternity. Family members have been assisting investigators while also conducting independent searches in nearby areas. Friends and fellow athletes have expressed hope for her safe return and have circulated her photograph and details on social media to help broaden the search.

Police have registered a missing person's case and said the matter is being treated with priority. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from multiple locations, analysing available digital evidence and speaking with individuals who may have had contact with the teenager before her disappearance. Authorities have appealed to the public to share any credible information that could assist the investigation as efforts continue to trace the missing shooter.
